I'm in the camp of running both filters. Square filters are cheep and replaced every oil change. I'm all for keeping gas tank crud from contaminating/infecting the fuel pumps, which aren't cheep. IMHO this is far simpler than having a direct line to the fuel pump in the long run. I continue to run this setup on both of my 84s.
