So it's the gear oil that Redline changed. Such a shame.

Thanks for the tips Scott. The stuff I used last time was standard issue CV grease. Can't recall brand right now.

I thought that for the extra $ Redline might be worth it. Not long ago, noticed inboard CV's weren't dry per se, (I am not that experienced with what they should look like) but found that after less than 50K miles, they were "dryer" than I thought they'd be. I added grease. Will do in/outs at some point soon.
