you are correct Rocky, especially if the devices that fit in manual trans differentials also fit in the diff used in the automatic.

Here is a trick that 'might' work sometimes. you put the parking brake on half way . this equalizes, somewhat, the drive to both rear wheels.. and may get you out when one wheel is spinning in a hole or on soft material etc.

beyond that there are also 'fiddle brakes' or whatever you want to call them.. either manual or hydraulic .. in a simple dune buggy installation there's a parking brake lever ( often vertical where you can grab it easily ) for each rear wheel drum brake ...the same cables used in the parking brake system.

if the right rear wheel is spinning and you're not moving, you just pull on that lever hard, and the drive is transferred to the other side that has traction and away you go.

remember that parking brake trick next time, and give it a try.
