I just recently installed Febi bushings. The body had two different OD's. My guess is that the smaller OD lets you line it up in arm so you stand a better chance of pressing them in straight.

I pressed old parts out and new in, with vice, piece of exhaust pipe and steel plate to back up part and pipe. Pic of old Meyle removed: http://tinyurl.com/3d7kkat I think a vice jaw pressing on part deformed it. Pretty sure that's not what it looked like new. Pic of old part tack welded to arm: http://tinyurl.com/3lbotjr not saying it's needed, but pic should show how small and how little actual weld may be needed.

Of the Meyle and Febi I removed only one pair had the tack welds IIRC. Neither were turning in the arm AFAIK.

I have a MIG so tack welded the new parts just for the halibut, but when pressed in, they seemed pretty tight to the arm.

These being the observations of a first timer install. ;)

Neil.
