Sounds like Washington is sort of following Oregon's system, we have a day use fee for Oregon State Parks that is currently $5. An annual pass is $30. The day use fee is exempt if you have a current campground receipt. So you could be camping in an Oregon State Park and park in another park to visit or picnic and would not have to pay the day use fee.

Fees are a part of life. $5 is not too much for me to pay to hike Silver Creek Falls (an Oregon State Park). There are few places I can go actually that only cost $5! What did you pay to see a movie recently? And that is per person, not per car.

I see a lot of Washington license plates in Oregon State parks, especially those close to the border between our two states. Wonder how many Oregon license plates in Washington State Parks? Your camping fees are higher than ours are, by about $4.

That being said, I'm still determined to take my vacation this September at the North Cascades National Park, even though I can't find a place to recycle my beer bottles. Last time I vacationed in Washington, I saved all the empties and brought them back to Oregon for recycling *smile*

Lola recently got a spruce up and is now purring like a kitten. Had the best VW Vanagon mechanic in Oregon (IMHO) look her over, if you want his name you can email me privately. Looking forward to another blissful 5 years of camping!

Happy Friday, all!
