ok..
here is a redline 'trick.'
get the normal MT-90 ..
use that for about 3/4ths of a fill ..
and use Redline ShockProof gear oil also, like a qt of that.
a transmission rebuilder told me he thought that would work quite well.
And it sure seems to.
after that, I like Royal Purple synthetic gear oil..
but it's near $ 20 per qt in some places.
for syncro's that are a little tired, sometimes I have good luck with
Prolong Trans additive.

So if we don't use Redline MT-90 for our manual transmissions due to
purported slacking of quality, what do we use? (I'm about due for a change
in a couple months.) Last time I had it changed 4 years ago, I was really
pleased with the result using MT-90...seemed to shift nicer and run
smoother...maybe it was all psychological.

Thanks John. Good to know of yet more options.
So it's the gear oil that Redline changed. Such a shame.
Thanks for the tips Scott. The stuff I used last time was standard
issue CV grease. Can't recall brand right now.
I thought that for the extra $ Redline might be worth it. Not long
ago, noticed inboard CV's weren't dry per se, (I am not that
experienced with what they should look like) but found that after less
than 50K miles, they were "dryer" than I thought they'd be. I added
grease. Will do in/outs at some point soon.
Neil.
