I have the same problem here, (Vancouver Island). here are stunning facts I have discovered about algae and moss growing on van... 1. north side gutter and window trim is the worst, duh, its the "wettest" 2. dust and dirt in gutter and around window ledges really supports the growth. Here on the farm there is lots of dust generated. Solutions? 1. alternate parking direction so both sides of van get whatever sun there is. 2. clean the van more often. Including scrubbing out the crap in the window nooks and crannies.
#2 really works. even just a quick blast at one of those wand car wash places makes a difference. alistair
