I forgot to mention, for those who do not like the taste of iodine or chlorine, they can be masked by the tart taste of citric acid, added in approximately equal amounts to the treatment. Some backpackers use koolaid, but I would like that less than the halogen treatment itself, and it adds sugar. Citric acid just makes a very slightly tart taste at the treatment level recommended. One could simply add as much as (s)he finds palatable. Citric acid is nontoxic. The expensive version of Potable Aqua (Pur Aqua perhaps is the name?) comes with citric acid tablets. However, the price is outrageous, and several pounds can be gotten from a bulk food vendor for the same money.

I also recommended a slight overdose of bleach. The tank actually holds 13 gallons, approximately. I recommended a dose for 16 gallons. That was because in using household chlorine bleach, and usual measuring implements in this country, the dose for 16 gallons is an even number of teaspoons. That slight amount extra is not too much, and can be doubled without a problem.
