Also, Jeff, 16,000 BTU/hr with 400 watts consumption is an EER of 40 which is completely out of sight. The DC Airco 8500 (~50 amp)-17,000 (~100 amp) BTU/hr units seem to be running EER about 14-15 which is well over the 10.7 EER required for an Energy Star rating for a window A/C and somewhat below the 16 required for a whole-house unit - since these are window-size machines that's excellent efficiency.*

*Probably not directly comparable since the Energy Star and EER ratings are based on AHAM (?American Heating and Air Conditioning Mfrs Ass'n?) specs and these aren't; but the "EER" or energy efficiency rating as such is a bastard unit: BTU/hr divided by watts.
