Having been thru an Autologous (my own stem cells fed back to me) transplant myself, I ran into many people, from 2 year old kids to mid 60's, that were undergoing Alogenaic (Donor cells)at The Fred Hutch who wouldn't have made it 6 months without the registry..Yes, a Bone Marrow Biopsy is not pleasant (have had 4 so far) but when you see the fight and then the smiles on the faces of the recipients, you would be amazed at their inner strength and a good portion make it into remission. Take the leap and arrange to be a donor and you will never regret it I guarantee.

Excellent post Roger. I encourage ALL people to register as a bone marrow donor. It isn't fun, but it can save the life of a loved one, as all people are loved by someone out there. Courtney
