Ken at German Transaxle gave me a modified governor yesterday, as I
posted, to try in my transmission. My son and I had to drop the nose of
the transaxle to install the Gowesty ATF cooler kit so it was an easy
job to swap out the stoc, governor and pop in the new.

One thing I never liked about the transmission is that it upshifted too
early when pulling away from a stop, or generally accelerating. The
stock transmission would upshift when the engine was about 2600 rpm, far
sooner than would do manually, and it felt boggy that way. With the
modified governor, the transmission waits until about 3200 rpm, a nice
improvement.

Second, with the stock governor, if I used the kick down, to get up to
freeway speed, say, the transmission would upshift at about 4000 rpm,
max. With the modified unit, it let the engine wind up to about 4800
rpm. Again, a nice improvement.
