The cable assembly is NLA from VW at this time, AFAIK. There is an aftermarket replacement that requires a couple pieces from your old one that were included with the VW part. Not sure where to find the aftermarket. In Europe I think it is available. Frank Condelli may have something, according to his site. I have some good used ones I have been hoarding. No one else seems to want them from the boneyards so I grab them when they look nice. A fresh and extremely clean van just showed up there today but I did not look to see if that cable was still there. Mark
