Common problem on the PD engines associated with poor quality oil. Have you been using 505.01 rated oil? You will need more than just the camshaft. lifters, cam bearings, rocker arm & bearing cap bolts (1 time use TTY). Might as well do the timing belt while your in there if it hasn't been serviced lately. If you run a good quality oil (as in better than the dealer Castrol) it shouldn't be a problem after repair. I've spoken with a few people in Europe and they've never seen this problem there. Its just our crap North American oil.... There are a few online venders that sell a complete repair kit. I refer to it as a "TDI Tuneup". lol I know of one car (2004 PD engine) with almost 600k kms on it. It's never had the valve cover off and runs like a top. I've seen others chew up the camshaft in 100k. Proper oil is the key. Jason
