A kinetic recovery strap won't have hooks, just loops. So a shackle is used to attach the strap to the vehicle recovery points (also loops). I think the front tow point is a bit sketchy to use for recovery (is it a hook or loop? don't remember). But it sounds like the kind of extractions Mr Squirrel intends aren't too gnarly, so maybe it's fine.
