I once was led, via a discussion on this list, to a site that describes fasteners in extreme detail. At the time, I needed to know more about some particular fasteners, and so the site was useful to me. I have since lost track of it, but I'll bet it could be relocated via the archives. A google search might also turn it up. The pages there define all kinds of fasteners, describe their uses, and as I recall give sources for ones that are unusual. mcneely
