I'll add to that... you can buy hooks that will bolt onto to a flat surface, not perpendicular as in the face of the bumper, but along the side to bolt under the van on the frame member that runs forward beside the spare tire tray. The downside is that it's down there, perhaps stuck in the mud you want to get out of.
