I finally got to it. I took the ducting to an auto body shop and had them fix the torn and sagging ducts with fiberglass cloth and a an epoxy. They did a great job and it is strong. I should not have any problems with sagging ducts any more.
Cheers

There was a VW recall on that, but the time lime on the free fix has
run out. You may - or may not - find the parts at a VW dealership, or
they may or may not - be able to even get the parts anymore. But the
parts were two simple aluminum plates that were mounted in the ceiling
to hold the AC tunnel up. If you want the original fix and are willing
to pay the attendant price tag for the "Official" fix - go for it. But
to me, for what it cost, now that the free fix period is past, and for
what it does, like the Lil' Boy sez "It ain't worth it!" Make yourself
a two inch wide aluminum or soft flex-steel strap, bend an ear on each
end, and screw the thing to one of those channels in the ceiling of the
van, pulling the tunnel up tight with it. Paint the strap a nice color.
Rarely if ever noticed, and it works. No more worries the thing is
going to fall in the floor while your are driving 60-70 mph in freeway
traffic, scaring the bejeebers out of you at some critical moment.
