Yeah. It stays open even when on the bench. Failed switch. New one is now mounted on a bracket atop the engine in a little manifold alongside an oil pressure gauge sender. Won't need to open up the tin for THAT stupid little part again! Weather's starting to look crummy. Take the van for one more time and check it again for leaks, then put the tin on and clamp those now-unused former ATF cooler hoses shut. Then ready to head out tomorrow for a camping trip!
