At lower elevation, along a river, with as few people around as
possible. I'm thinking the lower Deschutes river near Maupin, Ore.

Exactly my plan. Keep an eye on things. Bring along the old sender to
bung into the hole if a leak happens, but so far, no leakey.

Hm ... I'll take a look at the setup there and see if I can come up with
some clamp scheme. The two allen bolts you used are presently holding a
saddle for the external oil cooler hoses. No reason I can't also put an
oil sender pipe holder thingy there. Thanks for the tip!
