Wow - thanks for all of the great advice and ideas! I have to say, resources like this list make the adventure of owning (and working on) one of these unique vehicles so much less intimidating - and fun!

So I think I'll return the tach I purchased and look for a cluster with a tach out of a salvage van, etc. Soooo... does anyone here have or have a lead on an instrument cluster I can purchase? I already checked thesamba ads and ebay - none. And a quick search on car-part.com didn't come up with much.
