I wasn't clear about the problem.

The usual problem is that the shaft the odometer spins on falls out at one end so the gears don't engage, no odometer.

I had that problem. fixed it several times and on the final time used too much glue in the wrong place and the odometer wouldn't turn. The shaft was in place and the gears engaged but everything was glued in place.

Today I took the speedo apart [thanks Scott for the directions] and cleaned out the glue, lubed it and put it back together.

Still doesn't work.

Van Cafe will only fix the shaft falling out problem.

Palo Alto speedometer will fix it, for $175. Which I didn't want to pay but looks like I may have to. Valley Wagen werks [Paul] has some spare speedometers and I'll try and swap one in first though,

Thanks to all for the responses.

Mike
