Subject: Stereo/Speakers - review (kind of)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I finally got the radio I received for X-mas installed today (I was waiting until I could get some decent speakers).

It's a Pionerr DEH-P4200UB - CD/USB/XM-Sirus ready/Front AUX port/HD ready, etc. To keep it shourt and simle it's awesome! Easy to use, great features, looks good, and sound great. It's an easy fit too.

I also got a good deal on some Boston Acoustic SC50 5.25 component speakers. They sound simply incredible. I don't have any rear speakers (yet) and even without that it sounds great in my bus. The compontent speakers were a good choice (tweeters are separate from the woofers w/crossovers). I did have to make the stock speaker hole a bit bigger - there was an existing smaller hole in the panel that I was able to install the tweaters in. I've never used (or heard) Boston Acoustic car speakers before - they came highly recommended by Crutchfield - I'm floored by the sound quality.

I'm very pleased.

Down side - of course the windows cranks! These speaker grilles are larger than I thought and the mounting ring has to bee on the outside of the panel. They are about 3/4 of an inch out front the door. So I'll have to figure that out - I don't think spacing the cranks out will work - it's just too much. Anyone know of any cranks from alternate vehicles that might get me clearance?

Second downside on the pass side - the glove box hits the grill of the speaker and will not open with the door closed. So I'll have to figure out what to do with that too.

Either way it was worth it - now I just want to drive for a while and listen to tunes :)
