What Scott said.......

Add to that the fact that there is a brass bushing that goes in the flywheel that holds the felt seal in place. When the flywheels are sent out to the machine shops for resurfacing, the brass bushing is popped out, and never replaced. When the clutch and tranny are re-installed, with only the felt washer being in place, with the bushing missing to hold the felt in place, the felt is soon gone and the pilot bearing begins to accumulate clutch material in it thereby wearing it out faster. Though it is often said that brass bushing is not necessary, the designing engineers felt that it was necessary, otherwise they would not have designed it to be there. I vote for the engineers. Only one problem - the part is NLA. So you really have to do some fishing, or begging and pleading from all sources, or got to your friendly machine shop and have them make you one or two. This bushing slides down on the pilot shaft, and fits inside the flywheel, so that when all is together, the bushing holds the felt in place.
