RE: More batteries Tom Yeah, a lot of people have an Optima on it's side under the drivers seat. I have a much bigger battery, a Group 31, 100 AH, and it's mounted under the rear seat where the stock heater used to be. 100 AH gives me about four days on the Norcold 'fridge plus other uses (stereo, laptop, etc) without charging The model 31-AGM I'm using is the same basic technology for a sealed battery as the Optima, just a different internal configuration. Trojan rates the 31-AGM as a 'cycling' battery, not as a deep cycle. I'm going to be a little more careful about use on this one. But four years on an AGM aux battery that that was getting pulled down to about 11 volts on a number of occasions (and worse when sitting all winter) I don't consider to bad. A good friend of mine just had to replace the aux batteries in her RV at about 3 1/2 years, quit taking or holding a charge. Those were stock deep cycle lead-acid batteries. |
