RE: Beach and Side of The Road Camping along the PCH I'm sitting here trying to pin down the exact area along Hwy 1 that this applies to but it's well south of the Bay area and north of Santa Cruz. While driving that stretch I'd noticed a lot of small RVs (including a couple of Westfailas) pulled off on wide parking areas along the highway and obviously parked overnight for sleeping. Just up the road, at a rest area turnout at the cutoff to Big Basin (Waddell Beach?) I ran into a guy that was fulltiming in his Westy and we had a long conversation. I mentioned the beach parking and he explained that south of where we were, I believe Santa Cruz county, that was okay, but just to the north, IIRC San Mateo county, it was Big No No. I think this info is accurate as to location, didn't take a bunch of notes at the time but did just check the map to refresh my recollection.
