I repurposed a Gomadic Universal Replacement Holder (http://www.gomadic.com/universal-windshield-car-auto-mount-pda-phone-holder.html) which has a ball & socket to a stick rear mount point. They sell all sorts of widgets to attach their gizmo holder to surfaces. I think the whole setup was about $25 new.

In my case, I made a flat plate from the busted upper section of their handlebar clamp mount (from my motorcycle), and used double-sided tape to support it front of Cunegonde's analog clock (since the lower, fuel gauge, doesn't work anyway). This all supports an iPhone, which is also plugged into the lighter socket AND simultaneously acts as a bluetooth music server (in the absence of a passenger to be the DJ)!

Gomadic has great customer service - break one of their products, and they'll send you repair parts at no charge. The gizmo holder also holds my fancy Garmin GPS for my bike trips, has held iPod Classics, and a variety of candy-bar phones/non-slider Android whatsits as well.
