I, too, run tall section (14") tires on my van...Nokians for me...and when I smack a pothole or hit a rock....which I do quite often where I drive..I am glad for all that rubber. And for my steel rims. My 'wheel collection' of ten wheels now, I have two with dents in them but still somewhat servicable. I think, had those been alloy cast wheels with low profile rubber, I'd have had broken wheels and/or blow outs to deal with. I hit one pothole or bump so hard yesterday that I actually stopped to inspect my wheels, to count them and see it they were still round.... I'd have 15s or 16s if I bought new, but 14 stockers are usually free, so I use them.
