I bought a 16.4 foot reel of strip lights from ledlightsworld. com. Warm white, waterproof surface injection, Their part number HK-F3528X30N-12-X.

The strip can be cut to lengths with scissors at the "cut here' marks. The silicone waterproof coating is easily peeled away at the cut ends exposing bare copper. Piece of cake to solder to the copper. They also make version with prepped ends and little plug-in connectors, no soldering there though the wires coming out of the connectors need to be soldered to.
