Couldn't really say. But it did happen with me. I discovered my battery was dead, and the only thing running was that clock. I had let the van sit for several weeks unstarted, so the battery was never charged. The constant electrical drain of the clock eventually killed it. Jut took charging the battery again to get it going. But it is never a good thing to kill a battery completely. It causes permanent changes int he chemistry of the battery from it never really recovers. Makes the battery weaker, doesn't hold the charge as well, etc.
