The connector to the temp sensor on your engine is the same as the injectors except for color. New connectors are available aftermarket at any good electrical display. Same connector is used on many fuel injection vehicles including GM. The easiest fix to get the connector with wires and cut/splice them into the harness. Use sealing type butt connectors for best long term results. Of the two wires to the sensor one is from the ECU and the other goes to a chassis (ground) connection. Yes those bad grounds haunting us again. There are a number of things that can cause hard cold starting and rough cold running. Of course engine condition is a big one. Poor compression, bad valve guides, bad lifters holding valves open, excessive deposits behind the intake valves, intake leaks, etc. Next is poor injector spray patterns and lastly a weak ignition system. I just got a replacement sensor from the depot of buses so I'll bang it in and see if it helps. Question: what if the connector on the cable that connects to the sensor is knackered? (1.9L). It's an unusual-looking locking two-pin unit that I wonder is replaceable by anyone that solders. -- RJS
