Subject: Re: Replacing Canvas on Westy

I'm late to this conversation but will add that I've got the "premium" canvas from Bus Depot and wouldn't install it again if it were given to me. It has started to break down and may be dry rotted as there are small tears that have shown up in odd places. It has been on my van for a little over 3 years and while I do use my van more than most it should have lasted longer. It tore at one of the side zippers within months of my having it installed so may have been dry rotted from the beginning. The side zippers are not up to spec and yes, the front window setup is annoying. It was a good fit, and did look good for a while..

For the record I've been buying from Bus Depot for years and have always been/still am happy with them, etc. and will keep buying from them, except for this tent. They are a great resource for sure.

Exactly, this is the canvas I bought from the BusDepot and = installed on my personal Westy. Fit is very good BUT the zippers story, = well, that's something else. Just as Karl has said, that front zipper = across the top is a major PITA, try to get the two ends to line up to = zip closed after a night of partying around the campfire and your fav = brew, next to impossible. The perimeter zipper as the OEM canvas has is = way, way better ! AND, the side window zippers are Barbie zippers ! = The pull tabs need a microscope to find them. Mine have already started = to deteriorate from use ! Never again that canvas, HIGHLY NOT = recommended !
