The GoWesty belts I got seem to be perfectly all right in terms of strength (how would I know, right?). However, the retractor covers are cheaply made and do not fit nicely over the retractors. Is this seemingly poor quality isolated to the covers, or does it indicate less than excellent quality in the mechanism itself?

Further, when you install the belt on the driver's side, it will pass through the "closet." That impacts the amount of stuff that can be carried there, as things above about 2/3 up interfere with the belt. And, torquing the bolt in the close space inside the closet is not easy.
