re You been bested by one of the sages.." "bested", how so ? since Frank says he's had thermal cracking on stock DV exhaust ? Well who is going to put a stock DV exhaust system on a gas 1.8 anyway ? ? If that's what he meant . that tiny pipe would be rather ....uh .......either dorky, or way undersized. Frank wasn't too theoretical and 'all engineer' this time. get him talking about modulus of elasticity and other exotic engineer stuff .. and it's hard to follow even. this was hyper mild. I trimmed some for you phil.

From: Frank Grunthaner <frankgrun@AOL.COM> I'm generally not moved to comment with many of the recent exchanges, but this one did incite me to offer a reply while waiting for my iPad to sync. On the issue of exhaust systems, I had experienced thermal cracking of the DV system repeatedly when used on the 1.8L RV Digifant engine as well as the DV. For what its worth! Frank Grunthaner |
