I went this route for the rear bench belts in my pax van and while they work
just fine they're not very long. I've always wondered what the difference in
length is from the stock belts. They're fine for the kids (in boosters) but
not so much for adults. I got some belt extenders but I haven't installed
them yet.

been patient enough to search for and get used oem belts. The GoWesty belts
I got seem to be perfectly all right in terms of strength (how would I know,
right?). However, the retractor covers are cheaply made and do not fit
nicely over the retractors. Is this seemingly poor quality isolated to the
covers, or does it indicate less than excellent quality in the mechanism
itself?

double check that the curtain is not interfering with the mechanism
(passenger side). Further, when you install the belt on the driver's side,
it will pass through the "closet." That impacts the amount of stuff that can
be carried there, as things above about 2/3 up interfere with the belt. And,
torquing the bolt in the close space inside the closet is not easy.
