Hey Gang...
I am not touting the Tiico. I was passing on what has been recently said
by people who do own and drive these things. I lurk on their list, but I
have never even seen one in person, that I know of.
Ok, so they are crap. If that is what the Word is, fine.
I still like my own version of the inline four that has been giving me
great service and value over about 3yrs now and perhaps 60k hard traveling
miles and daily driving for work and pleasure. Mine don't vibrate. Mine
don't do nuthin bad. So dere!
Any time anyone asks for opinions about conversions for vanagons, I will
mention my own experience with the inlines, and so far, I have nothing but
good things to say about the one I have. I have plenty of second hand
praise from other satisfied owners of similar inline VW motor transplants.
I do hear lots of "those things suck" from folks who have heard that, or
maybe even owned one that did suck.
I hear that (they have problems) about WBX vans and about Subaru
conversions, too.
Let's all just keep on sharing info, according to our experience. In my
first post, I think I said I was relating second hand internet rap, not hard
facts about that Tiico. Then I went on to link up some sources for parts and
info on inline 2.0 liter engines that I found when I was swapping my 1.8
block for the ABA 2.0 liter block... Dig into that Tiico, Scott...If I can
make an inlne four work, you should be able to do it with your eyes closed.
You may want to pick the brains of the TT guys in the link I sent...they
seem to know most everything about inline four VW motors of that era
