I re-use the copper washers. If you are really anal you can anneal the thing by heating it with a propane torch or use your Westie stove burner. Supposedly, that make the thing 'crushable' again.

My current van has the diesel oil drain plug...Can't say as I can figure out why they made that one...complicated and not so safe, I am told by the diesel heads on some of the lists..they come loose or crack the cast pan, I am told, unless you do everything just right every time. I'd rather have just the normal plug..
