Jonathon, mechanics I have consulted use copper washers. I forget the size. most flaps have it listed in their books, but probably don't have the washers in stock (ones around here don't). but if changing at regular intervals, I doubt that the washer material matters much. Lots of folks object to overfilling, or even filling all the way to the full mark, suggesting that it results in froth in the oil, and loss of pressure. Those folks recommend filling only to half way between the two marks on the oil stick. I think (but do not know for certain) that that might relate to the trend that manufactures initiated some time back of engineering the stick to read full when the oil is hot, rather than when it is cold, because most folks habitually check oil at a gas fill up more than at other times. But that is only speculation. I do know that when I have filled the oil to the full mark at a change, then when I've checked it when hot, it showed overfull. I started filling it to a little lower than that. That does not happen with my other vehicles.
