Well, I am confused (not an unusual situation). But, why leave the valve open when heat is not wanted? Though leaving the flaps closed means not so much heat gets out to the cab, still, even with the flaps closed and a good seal, some would heat would escape simply because the box is hotter than the cabin air. Close the valve, and the box should not heat up, as no coolant flow. Hmmmmm.......... .
