Subject: Camping Alert - Smoke
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Here's an alert for those of you planning to camp or travel in northeast Florida or southeast Georgia....... We are under a near constant vale of smoke here due to the huge number of wild fires burning.  Our visibility is mostly reduced to 1/4 to 1 mile, and the air is unhealthly for people with respiration problems, and even healthy people shouldn't be out much when the smoke is really bad. Most of the smoke is coming from fires in the Okefenokee area of southeast Georgia, which have been burning since late April.  This is compounded by the over 200 wild fires burning in northeast Florida at various times. Those of us on the coast have been fortunate to have some sea breeze in the late afternoon, which gives us a bit of relief, but when the northwest wind blows it is terrible. Recommend you avoid this area until we get a good tropical storm to soak the fires and clear the air. Anthony'89 Syncro GL (Hidalgo)
