Don, if it sounded like I was talking about something other than what I quoted/highlighted, just like the directly above, my apologies. What I am saying is that putting ANYTHING on the exterior of the exhaust pipes, will not "prevent rust on the exhaust system." It will only prevent/affect rust on the exterior, which is a very secondary rusting. I don't think many volks are aware that these systems rust, in most cases, from the inside out. Exceptions are very high salt/road winter treatment areas, and people who mostly drive their vehicles long distances, with almost no short runs.

Sorry if it sounded like I was discounting your experience with exterior rust, not intended.
