I may know more about that if I take this thing apart .. which I probably will be doing.

I won't say much, but I had some direct phone dealings with the owner of Tiico about their planned 1.9 TD kits.. it wasn't pleasant and rewarding, let's say.

I went nutty looking into why SVX subaru engines with an adatper and rear mount system were breaking studs. VW doesn't even use 'real' locating dowels in their waterboxer bell housings. Just a lip. it's a joke. the 10mm bolts and studs ..they're in 12mm diamter holes through the wbxr bell housing ..and one of the holes is 14mm ... so no real 'locating there.'

joining the two on the ground shouldn't make any difference. if it's a decent locating system .. doesn't matter where you mate them .

'lots' of conversion parts are underbuilt or poorly designed in my experience.

to much of 'this might be good enough' and not enough of 'make it as good as we can possibly figure out.'

and it doesn't have to cost more to do it right.

the forces acting an SVX engine adapter with a rear mount system .. about 5 seperate forces.. rotational, the sheer weight being supported at the ends with the mounts at the far ends... the up-down 'thrust' when you let the clutch out , etc. There's a good reason most manufacturers make that junction so there is no question about anything going anywhere. Subaru and volvo are good examples. Nice fat pins or dowels, etc. Numerous good size bolts, and so on.
