> From: mumbrue@comcast.net <mumbrue@COMCAST.NET> > Flaming Gorge off I80 was fantastic! Funny, I spent the night at Flaming Gorge. I rolled in just after dark unfortunately, but it is a great spot. I went down the East side of the lake. It was funny to see a pay campground on one side of a small bay, and a free dispersed camping area on the other side of the pennisula. I think the dispersed area was more popular, but both had too many campers for me, so I found a secluded spot on a ridge over the lake. Bugs were a bit bothersome, so the breeze was welcome. All kinds of fingers where the water comes close to the road, and dirt roads all over the place to explore heading off down to the shore, and in every other direction. I'm probably camping tonight around Boise, or if I make it that far, Umatillo NF in Oregon. There is a dirt road at exit 243 that looks interesting. Dave |
