Just a note on defensive driving. My friend went to real defensive driving training. You know the type- boot-leg turns, crashing through blocking cars... One thing he told me I never forgot and started doing from that time forward: ALWAYS leave at a minimum enough room to the car in front of you so you can swing you car left or right to escape being blocked in. With some momentum you can bash your way out of containing cars or road barriers. Now this might seem paranoid- but in the case of terrorists or kidnappers this might be the thing to use. On 66 I used it to pull into the left lane to avoid direct attack, and it was an option if the Harpies had something in their hands that could have penetrated the cab of my truck. I've always thought if the carpool driver waiting to turn left into Langley years ago had done that then just maybe the outcome of the AK47 attack might have been a bit different. What a wonderful world we all share. ed |
