Well, time came to replace all the fuel injection hose in my daughter's 2.1 and reaffirm all the reasons why I love my diesel. I had a spare fuel injection setup and took my time replacing all the seals and old stuff with nice new stuff. Put the new rig in my the car and tried to fire it up. Nothing. Check the fire, got that. Loosened the bleed screw, got plenty of pressure. Pulled the left injectors loose and turned it over a few times. Nothing. Replaced the "new" injectors (of unknown condition) with the ones that came off the car a few hours ago. No spray. I don't have a noid light and so I can't verify a pulse to the injectors, but it was working just fine a little while ago and I didn't touch anything back there I didn't need to. Pulled the hoses off of the little cannister valve thing on top of the manifold with the vacuum hose running to it and put them temporarily back on the one that was running a few hours ago. Nothing. Except I managed to spill a little fuel out of the one still mounted to the plenum and it somehow caught fire, sending me running for the extinguisher. The only thing I can think of is that the hose plumbing is not hooked up right, careful as I was to keep track of those things. This is not the first time I have done this, either. But it's the first time I've gotten nothing. ? Jim |
