That diesel Vanagon group is great but is more oriented toward people with vans that came with diesel engines. Many have upgraded the motors to various other VW diesel engines but that is not the same thing as converting a gas van to a diesel, particularly in a Syncro. There is some overlap but you might learn more of what you need to know with a different group, the TDI-conversion one. Join both, as neither has all that much traffic and both have value to diesel owners.
