Hi Kim,

This is also true within Canada, there are many signs in this area on the highway warning people not to import/export firewood and many (most?) campgrounds will no longer allow you to bring your own firewood.

Toronto is bracing itself to lose up to 10% of its trees in the next three years. It's going to have a huge impact on some neighbourhoods, and homeowners are going to be liable for the removal, which can cost thousands of dollars.

Buying your firewood when you get to camp is a good way to support the local tourist economy, which ensures that the campgrounds will be viable to remain open in the future.

Happy Trails,
