I was just wondering. I've been thinking propane injection in my diesel westy 1.6 na as a cost friendly minor power economy boost just deciding if another lp tank would be needed and your info is keeping me lp

it's always like this.. someone asks if 'xyz' will be better, cheaper, more efficient, etc..

in most cases we are already using the energy form that has the most favorable combination of energy density, ease of production and distribution, and cost.

hey, can I run a generator off my back axles and use that to charge a battery ... which will in turn power electric motors that will drive the wheels ? That works right ?

I find this though rather interesting.. we can ad energy to our cars only one way ..fuel in the tank........and it runs on air too of course. With a hybrid electric .. you can ad energy two ways....fuel in the tank, and regen braking.

with a Plug-In Hybrid Electric car .. you can ad energy 3 ways. gas in the tank, regen braking, and plug it in at home or a charging station.

the Chevy volt is like that. and that car can barely use any gas if you plug it in over night and your driving range and cycle is favorable.

what I think will happen with that car though is largely ..people will be lazy .. run it until they just 'must' either stop and charge, of put gas in it. and since charging times, and a gas fill up is quick..........means that many of them will be driven like gas cars that just get a little better fuel mileage.

At some point we well figure out how to put that drive train in Vanagons. and we'll have plug-in electric hybrid vanagons.

there is also the Compressed Air powered car. Not a joke either.

I saw a lifeboat diesel engine once, in a shop, like on a large pallet. there is a long lever sticking up ...that you would stroke back and forth a lot until a lot of air pressure was built up in a tank, and then there was an air motor for a starter.

the idea was that it could sit for a really long time and not have a battery, yet be started anytime.

put that in your vanagon !
