hi ... 'purposefully oversimplified.' .. ..I see.

people might read that and think it's just a couple of steps.

I had a customer ask me about converting his 1.9 NA block ( now with AAZ turbo rods and pistons ) to turbo .. when I listed off the parts ( which on a diesel would include injection pump, injection lines, and injectors, besides all the air and oil feed and return hardware to support a turbo, and the injection part wouldn't apply to a gas engine of course ) ... perhaps 12 to 15 different parts, some of them major .. and a whole other exhaust system and air filter/breather system ..

He had thought it was just a couple of parts, mainly the turbo. no ..it's a whole re-engineering of lots and lots on the outside of the engine.

in addition ..the insides of the engine should be modified as well, to handle the increased stresses and pressure., for turbo or supercharger.

by the way .. speaking of turbo rabbits/pick-ups .. I very much need a harmonic balancer front crankshaft pulley .. for exactly this .. or this is the exact factory application - 1.6 TD jetta/rabbit . not quantum. not AAZ or 1.9 not serpentine belt. not anything ....but 84 to 86 or so, 1.6 TD jetta/ rabbit harmonic balancer crankshaft pulley with v-groove for a 9mm belt. I've seen and used many of them. infinitely superior to the sheet metal pulley many 1.6NA's in rabbits, and diesel vanagons have.

going onto to a very robust 1.9 NA in a diesel vanagon .. should be pretty good - aaz rods and pistons, full rebuild including new pistons, it has piston oil squirters already of course......and engine balancing, .......... Giles Injection Pump and new complete Kolbenscmidt cylinder head, and more. need it for that engine. should be a pretty good DV Westy engine for a while.

I don't think oversimplifying something like a turbo installation really serves anyone. and that's the idea, right ?
