I read a good quote today, "the stone age didn't end for lack of stones" (in "Physics of the Future: How ..", Michio Kaku)

--> We are the peak of the oil age right now. There will still be oil in 2135, but it will no longer serve the desires of humanity as an energy source, in part because it will be quite expensive, and we will have moved on to better things. And we will no longer want to live with pollution or the threat of global warming, and will do something about it before then, i.e. nobody will want the oil (stone) age anymore. Our great grandchildren will wonder how we could possibly have put up with the disadvantages of that ancient, horrible oil (stone) age. But someone who can afford a $200K Vanagon then could certainly afford the gasoline to drive it -- probably just far enough to get more gas.
