The steel bushing should really be able to move. It provides some float to compensate for slightly different mounting flange dimensions on the compressor. A tap should be able to cleat the threads as it is quite robust. For the rear if needed a heli-coil will do the job. The correct size goes all the way through. A lot of thread. Hard to believe all of it is destroyed unless some already used the wrong tap or really forced the wrong thread through it. Dennis
